Micro Dermabrasion

Regular exfoliation with MD does wonders for a dull and lacklustre complexion. To get the most out of your at home skin care products you need to remove old build up before anti-ageing creams and serums can penetrate and take effect.

MD treatment does this by using tiny crystals to slough away old skin cells, clear blocked pores and polish the face. As we age elastin & collagen starts to slow, the vacuum action of the MD treatment works to stimulate blood flow, promoting elastin and collagen production. The combination of collagen stimulation and increased skin renewal will improve the condition of the skin’s surface, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.

A course of 6-10 treatments are recommended, you can continue for as long as you see an improvement up to a maximum of 20 treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Treatments should be carried out every 7-10 days. This will ensure MD exfoliation reaches the deeper layers of the skin and allows acne scarring to be removed, pigmentation lifted and fine lines smoothed. It is a progressive treatment rather than aggressive, so layers are gently removed over a course of treatment carried out at regular intervals.

  • Yes your therapist will book you for a consultation to check the treatment is suitable for your skin type and do a patch test for the treatment 24 hours before your booking.

  • This will vary depending on your skin’s condition. MD is a fantastic one off exfoliating treatment and it’s also great for treating problematic skin issues such as acne, pigmentation or fine lines and wrinkles. Treatments for skin problems require between 5-20 treatments depending on their extent and the skin concern to be treated. Please get in touch and we will be able to complete a full consultation and offer a recommended treatment plan based on your needs.

  • MD is an exfoliating treatment and as such should be carried out regularly. Skin is continually renewing itself and this happens approximately every 28 days. MD provides a deep exfoliation to remove build up and old skin and so your skin will continue to benefit from regular MD treatment after a completed course. Results achieved for skin problems such as pigmentation and acne / acne scarring can be maintained by protecting the skin from UV rays and maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle alongside maintenance treatments.

  • No. Not at all, in fact most people find it quite relaxing. You will feel the suction and the sensation of the crystals on your skin. This will be a pleasant experience when performed correctly by a qualified and trained therapist.

    We do advise not to wear makeup for at least 12 hours after a treatment. However mineral makeup can be used as this allows the skin to breathe.
